Una publicación en las redes sociales muestra una aparente amenaza de muerte contra el alcalde Amezcua

Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua posted Wednesday to her social media a screenshot of an apparent death threat. The post came from a user on Instagram posted to their story saying "Kill your local politician now!" The user is not identified in the post.

"A clear death threat!!!" writes Amezcua. "No need for me to say anything else."

This after three days of continuous federal immigration raids as well as protests continue to occur citywide, leaving some vehemently angry. Some commenters on The Santanero and other social media outlets are upset at what they say is a lack of urgency to speak on the issue of immigration raids and protests.

Amezcua formally released a statement through the City on Wednesday evening. She additionally posted twice on Facebook, one pleaded for peace from protestors and another criticizing Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento and other Santa Ana City Councilmembers whom were present at Monday's protest.

The cropped post also had a screenshot of a tweet sent out by the Orange County Republican Party as seen below.

The Santanero cannot confirm if the threat is under investigation, however it would not be the first time Amezcua received such threats. In her first few months as Mayor, a threat was received resulting in her hiring personal security.

Amezcua also opened up of mental and physical health challenges she's faced since becoming Mayor on her social media.
