Lorin Griset student dies by suicide, SAUSD confrims
BELLA VISTA N.H. — A male 11th grader who attended Lorin Griset Academy died by suicide at his home on Wednesday, the Santa Ana Unified School District has confirmed.
The Santanero learned of the student’s death on Friday. Initially, it was unclear if the tragedy was connected to the recent stabbing incident at Santa Ana High School, but district officials have confirmed the two incidents are not related.
Fermin Leal, Chief Communications Officer for Santa Ana Unified, confirmed the student’s death occurred Wednesday and clarified that it did not happen on campus.
When contacted, Santa Ana Police Public Information Officer Natalie Garcia said the department had no information regarding the death.
The Santanero also reached out to Lorin Griset Principal Micheal Parra and the Orange County Coroner’s Office, but those requests were not immediately returned.
Circumstances as to why the student took his own life are not known at this time.
