# No, Mayor Amezcua is not working with ICE

SANTA ANA, Calif. — The Editorial Board of the *OC Reporter* blog (not to be confused with the OCReporter website for public notices) [published an editorial](https://theocreporter.com/2025/02/01/editorial-santa-ana-mayor-valerie-amezcua-collaborating-with-ice-to-deport-santa-ana-residents-a-breach-of-trust-in-a-sanctuary-city/?ref=santanero.org) claiming that Mayor Valerie Amezcua is “cooperating with ICE” to deport Santaneros.

The editorial did not provide evidence and said “[If confirmed](https://theocreporter.com/2025/02/01/editorial-santa-ana-mayor-valerie-amezcua-collaborating-with-ice-to-deport-santa-ana-residents-a-breach-of-trust-in-a-sanctuary-city/?ref=santanero.org)”, spreading disinformation quickly via its headline.

*The Santanero* did not find any evidence on any other site either.

In a seperate [post](https://www.facebook.com/groups/409867522719304/permalink/2326103874428983/), shared by a resident in the ‘Neighbors of Santa Ana’ Facebook page, says Amezcua confirmed that there has been “no ICE raids to date,’ but did not specify a date.

The editorial claims that “[recent information](https://theocreporter.com/2025/02/01/editorial-santa-ana-mayor-valerie-amezcua-collaborating-with-ice-to-deport-santa-ana-residents-a-breach-of-trust-in-a-sanctuary-city/?ref=santanero.org)” came about, but did not elaborate on it.

The City of Santa Ana has now posted on its website a ‘[Know Your Rights](https://www.santa-ana.org/know-your-rights/?ref=santanero.org)’ tab, similar information that is written on a ‘red card’.
