FRENCH & FLOWER NEIGHBORHOODS — The first of several streetcars arrived in the middle of the night Wednesday, finding its forever home along the railway near Raitt Street and Santa Ana Boulevard.

According to a construction update from OCTA, additional streetcar deliveries are expected to arrive every two weeks. Temporary road closures will be in effect during those times, with access limited to residential driveways and pedestrians only.

A crowd of several dozen gathered to witness the historic moment as the first streetcar was carefully placed onto the tracks and slowly towed to the streetcar maintenance facility near Daisy and 5th Streets.

The streetcar transit system is slated to begin service in Spring 2026.
