Officer cusses out Santanero journalist covering chaos on Fourth Street, another jests

Daniel Diaz, the sole staff member of The Santanero, was livestreaming and reporting the events unfolding early Thursday where Santa Ana Police officers shot rubber bullets and other canisters at protesters with no warning or unlawful assembly order given.

As officers began to expand their line across Fourth Street, one officer ordered Daniel to "back up."
"I'm not in your line.. I'm press, I'm reporting." said Daniel.
"Alright, then get out of the way." replied the officer as he pointed to his right.
"Right here is fine?" said Daniel, pointing to the officers' right.
"Yeah, get the fuck out of the way." replied the officer.
"I asked nicely, okay? I asked nicely." said Daniel.
Daniel returned to reporting the event, while also flashing his press badge to officers that were unaware that he was a member of the press.
While live on Instagram, a commenter asked how big the rubber bullets were. Daniel asked an officer if he could pick up one several feet from where they were standing.
"May I pick up that rubber bullet?" asked Daniel to the officer.
"Just don't throw it at me bro," replied the officer.
"I ain't gonna throw it, bro," said back to the officer.
While journalists across the nation are facing similar or harsher interactions with officers as protests continue, The Santanero will continue to support its staff as they report on critical events happening in our city.
