The District Board unanimously voted to extend the Supplemental Employee Retirement Plan (SERP) for certificated staff. This deferred-compensation retirement plan, if accepted, could reduce staff layoffs and create opportunities for those affected. On Wednesday, a letter was sent by Superintendent Almendarez notifying the certificated union.

Board eases part of MLK Elementary to City for new park
The District is granting an easement to the City of Santa Ana for a portion of a cul-de-sac on Hesperian Street and an adjacent alley. This area, located next to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, will be used for the development of a new park.
