The Santanero celebrates Local News Day

The Santanero celebrates Local News Day

Today is Thursday, April 9th, newly known as Local News Day.

It's the first inaugural celebration initially supported by the Montana Free Press, American Journalism Project, Press Forward, and more. The Santanero is proud to join over 1,300 newsrooms across the nation in this coalition to recognize locally supported newsrooms.

"Americans overwhelmingly say local news is essential to democracy and to their daily lives. Yet many communities struggle to access the in-depth, accountable coverage they deserve. Local News Day helps bridge that gap—reconnecting people with trusted sources that keep them informed and strengthen their communities," says the Montana Free Press.

We are proud to have provided Santaneros with news and information for the last three years. On April 20th, The Santanero turns four with good surprises in store!

"The Santanero began as a very small idea and has grown to a trusted community-centered publication, 14,000 strong," said co-founder Daniel Diaz. "We cannot wait to share our next steps this month!"

That is why we're asking for anyone out there reading this to support our GoFundMe in any way! That includes sharing the link to your social stories or donating whatever you can.
