Share your thoughts, raise community concerns, or respond to our coverage in 250 words or fewer.
Have something to say about Santa Ana? Want to respond to something we've published, recognize someone in the community, or raise an issue you think deserves attention?
The Santanero welcomes letters from readers who want to share their thoughts, experiences, concerns, and perspectives on matters affecting our community.
What to know before writing
Letters should be brief, focused, and written in your own words. Submissions must not exceed 250 words.
You don't need to present a lengthy argument or extensive research. However, links to sources or evidence supporting factual claims are encouraged. Whether you're sharing a personal experience, responding to our coverage, or raising a community concern, make your point clearly and respectfully.
For longer, more developed arguments, consider submitting an opinion piece instead.
Submission requirements
All letters must include your first and last name, a valid email address, city of residence, and the complete letter.
If you're responding to something published by The Santanero, include the article's title or link. You must also disclose any affiliations or interests relevant to your letter.
Your email address will be used for verification and editorial correspondence and will not be published.
Editorial standards
Letters must be original, respectful, and free of plagiarism, personal attacks, and knowingly false information.
All submissions must comply with our Community Contributions Policy and Artificial Intelligence & Authenticity Policy.
We may request clarification, corrections, or supporting evidence before publication.
Review and publication
All letters are subject to editorial review. The Santanero reserves the right to accept, decline, or edit submissions for clarity, grammar, length, accuracy, and style.
Submitting a letter does not guarantee publication. The Santanero does not pay contributors for letters to the editor.
We may publish an author's name, city of residence, and relevant affiliations or interests to provide readers with context.
